What is Eclampsia?
the development of seizures in association pre-eclampsia
pre-eclampsia:
- condition seen after 20 weeks gestation
- pregnancy-induced hypertension
- proteinuria
What is the management of Eclampsia?
Magnesium sulphate - to both prevent and treat seizures
- should be given once a decision to deliver has been made
- treatment should continue for 24 hours after last seizure or delivery
What needs to be monitored during during magnesium infusion for Eclampsia?
urine output, reflexes, respiratory rate and oxygen saturations
